B'nai Shalom Hosts Project Elijah
On September 13, B'nai Shalom welcomed the Project Elijah Foundation to Waterbury. A Des Moines, IA based charity, Project Elijah provides assistance and life support on a worldwide basis to Jews in distress. Additionally, PEF provides food for Jews in crisis with their Elijah's Kosher Manna Program. Through the efforts of Mr. Ron Daniels and PEF Executive Director Julie Kaufman, the Waterbury Community was privileged to participate in a food packing event at B'nai Shalom. With the help of over a hundred young volunteers from the Yeshiva Ketana Ateres Shmuel of Waterbury, as well as a number of community members and students at the Yeshiva Gedolah, approximately 20,000 meals were packed for Jews in distress, in a breathtaking display of enthusiasm and efficiency!
