During the last ten years, we have been witness to the ongoing revitalization of the Waterbury Jewish Community. The city teems with the vigor of over 150 young families who have made Waterbury their home in recent years. Spurred by the growth of the world renowned Yeshiva Ateres Shmuel of Waterbury, and inspired by the Waterbury community's glorious past, our community has become a shining example for others around the country.
For three generations, the Weisman family has been a pillar of strength and determination for Waterbury Jewry. Having played an integral role in the founding and flourishing of B'nai Shalom, the Weismans have utilized their rich legacy and steady leadership in encouraging the rebirth of Judaism in greater Waterbury. It is our distinct honor to join with the Weismans in honoring the memory of Sherman L. Weisman, a founding member of the Executive Board of B'nai Shalom.
The Sherman I. Weisman Sefer Torah will be the first new Torah scroll in the fourdecade history of B'nai Shalom. We invite you to take part in this historic moment. Help ensure the future growth of Judaism in Waterbury. Join with us as we celebrate the transmission of the timeless message of the Torah to a new generation.
